Branded Versus Unbranded
Contrary to popular belief, major brands- as is the case with most products- do not actually design or manufacture their laptops. A small number of Original Design Manufacturers (ODMs) are the actual manufacturers of new models of laptops. The brands merely choose their models for their lineup. This accounts for the fact that an ODM in-house model might be similar to a branded high-end model and may cost much less too.
